running sipserver on vmware virtual machine?

Post by CRI_ITDept »

1. Brekeke Product Name and version: 2.1.6.6

2. Java version:1.6.0_06

3. OS type and the version: xp pro sp3

4. UA (phone), gateway or other hardware/software involved:
cisco / linksys spa941 voip phones
5. Select your network pattern from http://www.brekeke-sip.com/bbs/network/ ... terns.html :1

6. Your problem:

Not really a problem but a question. We have about 25-30 voip phones in a call center that connect from the sip server to an Envox IVR phone system. long story short our current sip server hd vaporized. We've been consolid ating a lot of backend systems onto a series of vmware virtual machines.

Anyone know if it's advisable or even possible to run the sip off a virtual machine? or should i just go dig up some old desktop and put the sipserver on that?

thanks!

Hi

You can run Brekeke SIP Server on a virtual machine for your service.
I know some providers are doing that way.

Any idea which virtualization platform others are using?
Hyper V, vmware, xen?
Can anyone comment on the success of this in a production environment?
Thanks,
Chris

Any kind of virtualization platforms will work for Brekeke SIP Server.
Im using VMware for Brekeke.

But remember.. a physical platform is faster than virtual platform.
