MS Office Communications Server integration

Post by Doug »

We are evaluating your Pro product.

We want to be able to interface to MS OCS gateway directly. It uses TCP as the transport versus UDP.

This would allow the OCS Communicator softphone to be called from brekeke as an extension. This is desired.

Can we do this with brekeke? How?

Thanks

Working with OCS

Post by Doug »

We got Brekeke working with OCS by using Sipx as a gateway converting UDP to TCP.

It would be nice to not have to have Sipx involved.

Is this in the plans?

Hi Doug,

Just to let you know, we plan to add support for TCP in our next update v2.2.

OCS TCP support

Post by Doug »

Thank you for the response.

Is there a guessimate for the release of 2.2?

I understand this is not a commitment, I am just trying to understand this for planning purposes.

Thank you

Hi Doug,

The release date for v2.2 has not been determined at this point. We'll update as we move forward on product development.

Are there plans to port the Brekeke PBX to Microsoft Office Communications Server API in addition to supporting TCP? It seems like it would be a good fit!

Hi Doug and wizardgmb,

It seems like there are high demand for integrating our products with OCS/LCS products. I'll make sure to send your message to our developer team!

Hi Elmar,

The above instruction is for OCS not Speech Server.

Please contact our channel partner or sales team for more details about Speech Server.

With Microsoft Speech Server, I've managed to get the following working:

SIP Phone <--UDP--> Brekeke PBX Beta <--TCP--> MSS

This is really awesome, as it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.

The one thing left to do is replace the SIP Phone with a VOIP provider's SIP account (e.g. I've signed up with voipvoip.com for a virtual phone number), so that you get:

VOIP Provider <--UDP--> Brekeke PBX Beta <--TCP--> MSS

Is this possible? We're hoping to test a Microsoft- and USAID-funded research system for information access by low literate users in Pakistan, as part of the HealthLine project, and would be happy to mention Brekeke in our publications -- however, we're on a big crunch deadline as we leave for the field on Tuesday, and would like to get everything set up before then.

Please point me towards the appropriate documentation. From what I can see, it looks like I might need to use Brekeke SIP Server to do the VOIP Provider interop, but I had problems getting both servers up on the same computer.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, it turns out that there are no reliable SIP DID providers in our target geography -- the one we used ended up having lots of downtime!

We'll keep at it -- thanks for an excellent product!
